The FENCEPOST PERIOD denotes the period of history marked by dominance of human commerce, travel, and technological development by the Reticulan extraterrestrials (aka "Greys"). It is a period noteworthy for its political stability and steady economic growth across the Three Agencies.
 
Close policing by the Reticulans forced conflicts between the Agencies to go underground. As a result, the Fencepost Period has been referred to as the "Golden Age of Espionage" - and also, less charitably, the "Years of Lies, Spies & Big Black Eyes".
