BORAURIS ESTER (bor-ROR-is ES-ter) is a rocky planet of Blue Agency and is one of the so-called Four Core Worlds. It is the second planet in orbit around the star Mar Treiest and has been the political hub of Blue Agency for most of the New Era. Borauris Ester has a dense human population and a sophisticated subsurface urban environment. Borauris Ester has become a major center for commerce and for technological development and the traffic to the world and its moons has in the past century even rivaled that of Lantil Mybea.

The first human settlements on the planet were Blue Agency colonies that mined and processed the world’s variety of easily accessible titanium compounds, including radioactive titanium isotopes that were widely used in the weapons industries. Though Borauris Ester has only the barest atmosphere, the planet’s reservoirs of subsurface oxygen were harnessed early in its development, greatly facilitating the planet’s industrialization.

Until recently, Borauris Ester had the highest population of the Four Core Worlds and their dependents. It was surpassed by Aphrophine’s moon Hafelin in 579 N.E.

Most of Borauris Ester’s 12 moons are also highly developed with human habitations and industry. During the Fencepost Period, the population of moon Gagoku Na was higher than that of Borauris Ester itself. Borauris Ester’s moons are, in decreasing order of size: Boria Mar, Gagoku Na, Boria Pel Separ, Bego, Doruc, Doru Wah, Bestita, Benani, Be Kian Wah, Behichi, Belm, and Haurrat.

    Core Worlds

The FOUR CORE WORLDS are the planets Aphrophine (Your Agency), Dakka (Your Agency), Borauris Ester (Blue Agency), Conus (Coral Agency), and their moons.

The Core Worlds were colonized during the late Expansion Period and their locations, resources, and development potential were a source of ongoing conflict that continued into the War Period. Each Agency established early, large-scale colonies on these worlds and later expansion and development tended to proceed from these points. The most famous of these conflicts were the First and Second Aphrophine Wars, fought between Your Agency and Blue Agency over control of the golden-green planet Aphrophine. Large areas of Aphrophine were devastated, and made virtually uninhabitable, during these two conflicts. The worlds are traditionally thought of as being the physical meeting point of all the Three Agencies and as a result have often been used – with various degrees of success – as symbols of unity between the Agencies.

The term “Core Worlds” is regularly conflated with “Home Worlds” in common parlance. “Home Worlds” is a Fencepost Period term referring specifically to star Sol and the bodies orbiting it.

RESIDENTIAL WORLD GESSILL was a populous cultural and communications hub in the Fencepost Period. It is a moon of the gas giant planet Locust.

It is best known for being the target of a Your Agency sneak attack in 474 N.E. which brought Blue Agency back into the conflict.

The moon’s technological infrastructure and environmental integrity still have yet to fully recover from the ravages of the Your Agency assault. Without substantial engineering, atmospheric balance is not likely to stabilize for another 1500 years or more. Gessill is still occasionally employed as a weigh station for shipping. Its proximity to other key real estate – including Locust’s other moons – may speed Gessill’s repurposing.
